Christmas, Part Trois

The third (and presumably final) package arrived today, the much-anticipated Anna Maria Horner parcel. Her packaging may just outdo SMS:

Adorable!

Adorable!

Inside, we find this – WOW COLOR:

Holy moly, look how bright! Most of these I can’t imagine pairing with anything other than her line, but we’ll see. There’s pre-washing and such to do. Speaking of which: The pillowcase myth is a lie.

I dutifully washed my jelly roll in a pillowcase, and this is the end result:

A complete mess

A complete mess

I know it’s a bit difficult to see in this photo, but there are eighty hectobazillion snarled threads in this ex-jelly-roll-shaped pile. I’ll be spending some quality time with the scissors tonight. Boo, hiss. Perhaps it would have been worse without the pillow sham, but damn, yo.

As I gaze about this sewing room, now stacked with piles of fabric, the paralysis creeps in closer. I have to pick a direction, any direction, in which to start.

Today, at work, PHawk came over to my desk with an envelope. It contained a stack of pre-cut triangles from Barbara, along with a note further encouraging me to Stop With the Squares, Already. I think I’ll start there (provided I can find my sewing machine…)
